The Jets Biggest Sleeper Pick

With the 129th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the New York Jets selected T/G Cameron Clark out of Charlotte. The 3 year starter at Left Tackle is the Jets most underrated selection in the entire draft.

Clark started 3 seasons at Left Tackle for Charlotte.

Clark, who played a school record 49 games in his 3 seasons as starting LT, was named the team’s offensive MVP in 2017. Most scouts see him profiling as a guard at the NFL level, but his major experience at LT in college means he’ll be another versatile piece for the Jets. The Jets offensive line was ravaged by injuries last season, so adding a player who can play every position besides Center will be extremely beneficial. Though Charlotte plays mostly bad competition, Clark had undoubtedly his best game of the 2019 season against Clemson, a top 3 team in the country.

Clark, in addition to being team MVP in 2017, was a captain for Charlotte. He was one of 5 team captains the Jets selected on Day 3 of the draft. Joe Douglas said in his opening press conference after being hired as GM of the Jets that his goal was to build the best culture in sports, and success would follow. He talked the talk, and now he has walked the walk. Cameron Clark will immediately become an excellent presence in the O-Line room and on the field. Additionally, in the workout process leading up to the Combine, Clark became great friends with Mekhi Becton, the Jets first round pick. Douglas reunited the 2 workout partners in the draft, and they will be able to push each other to improve, and may eventually be next to each other at LT and LG, or bookends at LT and RT. Just 2 days ago, both of them were training with well respected OL trainer Duke Manyweather and All-Pro LT for the Saints Terron Armstead.

There is no doubt that Cam Clark has all the intangibles needed to succeed in the NFL. And if can continue to improve and consistently be the player he was against Clemson, he will be an excellent pick in the 4th round of the draft for Joe Douglas and the Jets.
