Bubble Preview
The Grizzlies enter the bubble at 32-33 holding the 8th spot in the Eastern Conference. For the Grizzlies, their one goal in the final 8 games is to simply hold that 8th spot where they hold the lead by 3.5 games over the Kings as well as the Trail Blazers and Pelicans who are both on their schedule. If they don’t fallout, they won’t be moving up because they sit 7 games back of the Mavericks.
As far as the roster goes for Memphis, they’re a very young but talented group who is most likely ready to get back on the court. Ja Morant will more than likely win Rookie of the Year, and a sneaky good season from Dillon Brooks has given the Grizzlies a sneaky good backcourt and an above average frontcourt with Valanciunas and Jaren Jackson. Justice Winslow was aquiewd in February and is yet to play a game for them and can provide a spark for them off the bench.
Ultimately just 3 or 4 wins will lock up a playoff sport for the Grizzlies. Unfortunately though, that won’t be easy. They play the top 3 teams in the East, the Pelicans and Trail Blazers who are making the push for the playoffs to try and catch them. Although those are difficult games, games vs the middle of the pack like Utah and OKC could play into their favor as Utah and OKC might not be looking to make a jump in the standings, which could also hold true for the top 3 teams in the East. In the end this shouldn’t be too tough for the Grizzlies and they should see themselves as the 8 seed playing the Lakers in the first round.
