Bubble Preview

After Kawhi Leonard left for LA, seemingly everyone took the Raptors off the list of teams that could seriously contend. But here we are, now a year since the move, and the defending champions are still at the top of the East, entering the restart second in the conference.

While many expected a regression after losing their best player the Raptors have exceeded all expectations, despite the fact that their starters missed a combined 70 games this year. Despite that jarring number, Nick Nurse and company find themselves with the 3rd best record in the league despite not reaching their full potential. This is an extremely experienced team that clearly knows how to win, and after being plagued by the injury bug all year the long layoff finally has Toronto completely healthy.

Nobody expected the Raptors to be *this* good at this point in the year, nobody expected Pascal Siakam to turn into a #1 player and a league star but he did, and seemingly nobody expects the Raptors to win the title as they are listed at 16/1 odds, 6th best in the league, after posting the 3rd best record in the league as the defending champions. This entire season for Toronto has been proving doubters wrong, and this is a team that can certainly do it again by winning the Finals.
