Buy The Book 8/6/2020

Yesterday was tough for our Buy The Book daily pick debut, as the boys went 2-2 for -0.1u. There were some bad breaks for me and Dylan, as Max Scherzer left in the first inning for his Nationals pick, and the Lakers and Thunder shot a combined 10-61 (16.4%) from 3. But today is a new day and with another full slate we’re back again.

Alex Jansen (1-0, 100%, +1u): New Orleans Pelicans -5 vs Kings

With the playoffs right around the corner the Pelicans look like they might have found their groove against the Grizzlies, who’s struggles have blown the race for the playoffs wide open. With the 8 seed on the table New Orleans will come into this one ready to play, and against a Kings team that has yet to win in the restart the Pelicans will have a massive talent advantage that will make it hard for them to lose this one.

Ben Jansen (13-7, 65%, +5u): Indiana Pacers -2 vs Phoenix Suns

These two teams are arguably the hottest in the bubble, both are 3-0 straight up and against the spread. TJ Warren dropped 53 and has looked like the best scorer in the league will in Orlando, and Devin Booker is right there with him averaging 30 PPG in the bubble and dropped a game winner in Paul George’s face last time out. This should be a great shootout style game (I love the over here too), but I think when it comes down to it the Pacers are much more talented top to bottom, and should be able to squeeze one out here.

Risk 1.1 to Win 1

Dylan Kelly (0-1, 0%, -1u): LA Lakers -1 vs Houston Rockets

The Lakers are on a bit of a skid to start the bubble, only 2-2 and now facing the Rockets on the second leg of a B2B after getting blown out by the Thunder last night. LeBron and AD only played 30 minutes each in that game, and should be relatively good to go tonight where they will have a massive size advantage against the small ball Rockets. It’s a primetime game, and LeBron is going to will the Lakers to victory in this one.

Risk 1.1 to Win 1

Buy The Book YTD: 15-8, 65.2%, +6u
