Buy the Book 8/8/2020

Another day, another edition of Buy the Book Daily Picks. Today’s edition includes three MLB picks and one NBA pick. Lets get right into it.

Alex Jansen (1-2, 33%, -1.2u): Indiana Pacers +6.5 vs. Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers have struggled since closing out the West and clinching the 1 seed. Fully expect the Pacers to be hungry for a win tonight after a tough loss to the Suns. A win can move them ahead of the Sixers and catch the Heat for the fourth seed in the East.

Ben Jansen (14-8, 63.6%, +4.9u): Minnesota Twins ML -150 vs. Kansas City Royals

The Twins lost a close one in the opener yesterday, but it’s still overt clear they’re more talented offensively than most teams in the AL. With a lefty on the bump tonight the Twins hard hitting lineup led by guys like Nelson Cruz should mash tonight and take an easy one on the road.

Dylan Kelly (2-3, 40%, -1.2u): New York Yankees -1.5 vs. Tampa Bay Rays

After putting up a goose egg last night, the Yankees will bounce back in a big way in Game 1 of today’s double header. With Gerrit Cole on the hill I expect the Rays to be shutdown to under 2 runs and the Yankees will cover the spread with ease. At +135 odds, the payout for this pick is very solid. Good value betting on the Yankees today.

Ryan Kelly (2-0, 100%, +2u): Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants u8.0

This game features a pitching matchup of Johnny Cueto vs. Clayton Kershaw. While Cueto has had his ups and downs early in the season, Kershaw looked dominant in his first start of the year, giving up no runs through 5.2 innings. With Kershaw looking as good as ever, I expect him to shut down this weak San Francisco lineup. Unless the Dodges can put up 8 runs themselves, the under is an easy bet in this game because the Giants will have no offensive success.
